Today's Seismograms

Today's seismograms are shown below for monitoring sites with real-time data-links. Images are updated every 5-10 minutues. Times are shown in GMT (i.e. without daylight-saving adjustments - so during daylight saving the hour indicated will be 1 hour behind British Summer Time).


The majority of disturbances are traffic noise. A notable earthquake will produce spikes that overlap several other coloured lines above and below (see example) and will be clearly visible at several (usually all) monitoring stations (L001, L002, L003, etc.) at the same time.
